In this experiment we wanted to verify how the FlightScope Mevo compares to video analysis in regards to measurement of launch angle.
Measurement Equipment:
Flightscope Mevo & Baseball App
Ion “The Game” video camera
Kinovea Software (Video Analysis)
Experiment Setup:
Notes:
1.Two hitters (10 & 11 yrs old) were used.
2.Measured the Launch Angle from 45 Hits of the Tee.
3. Video analysis was used as a reference (not necessary correct or exact).
4.Experiment was done to have a reference for future experiments & training.
Data:
Conclusions:
Average angle difference between the two measurement methods was approx. 3.2 degrees for positive launch angles.
Average angle difference between the two measurement methods was approx. 10.8 degrees for negative launch angles.
The higher difference in the negative angles could be an artifact of the test setup (e.g. need to revisit settings and height of the tee vs. the Mevo).
However, the objective of the experiment was to check if the FlightScope Mevo cold be used for future experiments/training to acquire data in a faster way. It was decided that it can be used to track hitters consistency/improvements.
